Axe

Well, it’s been a couple of days since my last blog. I’ve been hearing news on rape cases. It’s really disturbing. Come to think of it we are a Christian nation and rape cases are so rampant nowadays. I found this site; hope this will go to our market real soon! Nope this is not the deodorant you guys are thinking of.

This kind of condom can only be removed surgically. What an innovative way. The culprit will surely shout… “Aray!”

Instant Meet Up!

Expect the unexpected. Yesterday was my usual office work routine. We have our weekly shutdown meetings. One of my colleagues saw a rainbow. I grabbed a photo of it.

It’s almost 5pm, still in the office. The management provided food. I had carbonara, barbeque, chicken, lumpia. This filled up my tummy. I called up cousin Daryl, if she wanted to meet up. Good thing we had the same schedule, she’s off 5pm. After my call, my mom and sister texted me, they were in Greenbelt. Well, so I arrange if we can all meet up again. Good old times. So here we are, grabbed a few bites of gelato then heads towards Teriyaki Boy. Guess, it’s true, if you don’t planned on anything, in most cases, 85% it will push through than planning ahead of time.

Community Service

Finally, sorry for the late post. Been busy... But here it is. Last September 4, 2010, HP peeps went to Novaliches to do community service. We volunteered. Rocky, Franz and I thought of doing some hard work. And so we did. We had a blast, work, work, work. GSD peeps was full force. Keith, Jade, Aloha, Billy, etc. Sorry if I missed somebody. We had fun. It was so tiring, but it's worth it. Cannot wait for the second run!

Yogurt

Hmmm.... I am starting to like Frozen Yogurt. Thanks Sis for introducing this to me. I have tried Teriyaki’s Boy and Golden Spoon's Belgian flavor. Ang sarap! Two thumbs up!

Oh, happy monthsarry, my dearest Mia. I'm glad you love yogurt as well. Sa uulitin!

Kikufuji – August 29, 2010

If you want authentic Japanese food, be sure to go to Kikufuji! Yes, I don’t know what this means. But it’s sure I’ll have another taste of sushi and sashimi real soon! They cut it big! Yummy!

Perhaps on my Father’s birthday. My cousin, Daryl knows a lot of places and foods. So whenever we hang out, I sure am having the best place that we can trash our money. Not expensive; but it will satisfy your tummy. Here are some of the photos I grabbed.

Our next stop: Kopi Roti. Little background, this baby is been around since 1955. I thought this is Philippine made. I asked my Daryl, how come I don’t see this café. She said that this café began in Singapore. Guess that answers my question. Here are some of the photos. And they sell siomai too! Their coffee is awesome. What can I say, when we go to restaurants, we often commented on the picture to the actual food. Well, here at Kopi Roti, the buns looks small on the picture but when it served, you’ll be mesmerized. Great concept! Keep it up! Good thing we didn’t ordered 2 more of cream pups! Did I get the name, cream pups right? I forget the exact name. It's really yummy.

With cousins Daryl, Christian and Sister, Ging

Ah yes, I recall, this is the second time. The first taste was with my buddy, Jon.

I missed the Big Bike! Shall we go there next? I want Mia to see it, good times!

2 Hours Ride!

Yawn… I checked my schedule last night. Good thing I was able to find out that I am on a 10am shift. I thought I was still on a 9am schedule. So when in doubt, always check everything before you leave.

Had a chicken and coffee breakfast earlier; do my usual routine. Wash up, get dressed. Leave home. Travel time in our area is really tough. I always give allowance. Expect the unexpected. As soon as I get off our service jeep, the FX terminal to Ayala was really a box office hit. Loving the line! As if we all are going to watch a movie. Time check, 7:30 am. It’s still early so I decided to get a bus. There’s no Ayala route so I have to take the Quiapo bus which is going to Robinson’s Galleria. The bus had a video on it; the show was Tekken. I was astounded, the video is not pirated. It’s crystal clear. I was right on the box office thing.

Next stop, Robinson’s Galleria; I could say, the ride was smooth. I did not notice the time. I know it was traffic, perhaps the video keeping me company. I had to take a pee, thank you Jollibee for helping me fulfill this. And there, I’m on my way to Ayala. I had to cross to EDSA. And there, the journey continues. While on the bus, there’s a video again, this time, it’s a Jackie Chan movie. I don’t know the title. He’s a CIA agent. Same quality, the video was crystal clear. Too bad there’s a problem on the clutch of the bus so we have to transfer to another one. We were in between Ayala and Buendia. It was almost 9:30 am. Still keeping my cool. And wala, next thing I know, I’m in the office now.

This is my Monday morning so far. Keeping it alive.

Goodbye...

Finally after 6 long years of service, my Sony Ericsson bids farewell. I haven't changed any keypads, casing; just its headset (twice), battery (once). I'm going to missed you. Unfortunately, the timing was not right. I haven't transferred by contacts. So now I am rebuilding it on my new Nokia. Just like old times! My first phone was a Nokia 6110 then 8210. I can't believe it that this 8210 before worth 20K. If I haven't lost my 8210, we’ll probably he is still around. I purchased Sony Ericsson k700i at SM Megamall. I forgot what year it was. Back then, it's has a price tag of 19K care of Globe. My Sony wasn't able to wait for me to transfer my contacts. It dies out on me. I'm going to missed you dear old friend. I'm happy; I was able to save my pictures, videos, memories.

SM Supermarkets

I received this email couple of hours ago about SM Supermarket and other stores when punching items on their price tags. Just keeping you informed. There's one incident when my mom and I shopped at Makro. My mom wasn't able to check that the cashier punched the item twice. We found out when we arrived home.

Read on...

Beware of your purchase prices with the SM group or better still, choose the honest & fair strores.

SM treatment to suppliers is fast becoming a big issue as more and more big companies like Colgate & Mercury have backed out from supplying SM with their products because of what thy call shrewd treatment of suppliers and appartently, as can be read below, even with honesty in prices to consumers.
For your info & perusal.

Dear Friends,

I have previously written about anomalies that I have both personally
experienced and heard about at SM stores.  Almost unbelievably, I recently
was victimized again by the same modus operandi at an SM establishment.
Invariably, the anomaly consists of having a lower price tag on an item and
the same item punched at the cash register with a slightly higher price,
usually unknown by the consumer.  Following are some episodes that
relatives and I have personally experienced:

Episode 1, SAVE MORE, P. Tuazon St., Cubao, Quezon City, Aug. 1, 2010
I bought at this grocery store over a kilo of bacon-sliced pork tagged at
P207a kilo.  When the female server weighed my purchase, it came out as
P220 per kilo.  After I complained about this, she, assisted by other
servers, manually worked on the scale, punching it several times, until
they successfully came out with the price tag of P207 per kilo and the
total amount of P215.69.  So I continued with my shopping and went home.
Later in the evening, I casually looked at the short grocery receipt before
I was about to throw it away.  I was dismayed to see that the bacon-sliced
pork that had a tag of P215.69 had registered instead on the receipt as
P229.24 at P220 per kilo.  Furthermore, another item in the same list,
Magnolia Butter Gold Lite, which had a tag price on the shelf as P78 had
registered instead as P88!

Early the following day, I returned to Save More to complain about the
anomaly.  I saw that the tag price on the bacon-sliced pork had already
been changed to P220 a kilo, but the tag price on the butter remained as
P78.  (I have proof in my possession: the P215.69 tag price on the item;
the receipt of the same as P229.24; a digital shot of the P78 price on the
shelf dated 8/1/10; and the same cash receipt showing P88 for this item.
The supervisor at Save More admitted there could have been “negligence” on
the part of the store.  She said that daily memos from SM “Main” re price
changes came daily, so that it was possible that employees had failed to
catch up and update the tag prices.  She offered to give me the difference
between the tag price and registered price.  However, I refused to accept
the money, because it would have meant that I had accepted to accept their
explanation.

Episode 2, SAVE MORE, Riverbanks, Marikina, Aug. 3, 2010
My son who had been my companion at Save More Cubao on August 1st,
purchased a 550gram pack of Skyflakes at Save More Riverbanks which bore a
price of P34.75.  However, this item registered as P35!   My son
immediately complained about this, but Customer Service refused to return
the difference, saying that the item was actually P35, but the tag price
had not yet been changed.

Episode 3, SM MARIKINA, July 19, 2010
I bought two pairs of shoes, one of which I was tagged as P1,295.  However,
the cash register came out as P1,495.  Naturally, I complained. The cashier
explained the bar code showed P1,495.  The sales rep of Outland shoes was
summoned and asked whether the shoes were indeed P1,295.  She confirmed
this price, so the cashier had a supervisor come to adjust the amount that
had appeared in the register.

Episode 4, SM CUBAO, sometime in June 2010
My daughter-in-law purchased a piece of illustration board tagged at
P26.80, but the cash register marked this as P28.80.  When she complained
about it, she was told that the tag prices had not yet been adjusted, but
she was given the P2.00 difference.

Episode 5, SM MARIKINA, Dec. 26, 2009
Below is my Jan. 16, 2010 reply to Ms. Cora Guidote, Vice President of
Investor Relations Department of SM Investments Corporation, which relates
an incident that happened to our nephew.

Dear Ms. Guidote:

Thank you very much for writing me to respond to my claims of cheating that
is going on at Makro and at other SM stores.

Well, please know that my husband and I personally witnessed the aftermath
of another apparent cheating incident--this time, at SM Marikina.

On Dec. 26, 2009, we happened to see our nephew, Mr. Chito Olivares Caluag,
complaining at Ace Hardware that his receipt had been apparently padded by
P2,000.  Before Christmas Day, Mr. Caluag had purchased from Ace Hardware
several items and, although he was surprised then that his purchases
totaled P7,000, he did not check the items on his receipt.  When he got
home, he did check and noted that one item worth P2,000 was something he
had not bought and was missing from the items he had brought home.  So, he
returned to Ace Hardware after Christmas and asked to be shown what that
P2,000 item was. To his great surprise, the item was a huge plastic trash
can that he never even thought of, much less bought!   He demanded a
refund--and to his amazement and ours, he instantly got a P2,000 cash
refund with very few questions asked.  (As far as I know and based on my
personal experience regarding returned or exchanged items at SM, nobody
ever gets a cash refund--only a credit memo.)  Obviously, there was
something fishy in the case of my nephew.

You can get in touch with Mr. Caluag at tel. no. 929 0255 or 0917-532 3118
to get the details.

Yes, by all means, the management of SM should investigate what's going
on.  Thank you.

Yours truly,

Sharing my own experience....just recently at Makro...

I bought "garlic"...4 packs of of them.....Lucky for me, that the "kind and nice salesclerk"
noticed when he punched, that the item is tagged as "crabs"....and as well know, the price
per kilo of crabs is much, much higher than the garlic.  My husband then went back to the
area and got instead another pack, making sure he
got the right coding from where he got it and which when re-punched again in the paying
counter, turned out to be ok, correctly coded "as garlic"....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The kind salesclerk however, requested the assistance of another salesclerk, to go back to
the area and have the other packs properly labeled. He returned, with the packs of garlic,
supposedly with the right price code ..but, again, it's still priced and tagged as
CRABS !!!!  Nakakaloka ang sabi ng "good" salesclerk sa paying counter !!!!   How is this?
How come my husband got it right ??? Two labelling machines?

I ended up just getting just that one pack properly labeled as garlic....and even jokingly

why this is so !!!!]  "I didn't know garlic's name has been changed to CRABS and still
surprised that crabs look like garlic nowadays !!!

Where is the price quality control then ??? Nobody checks?????   Had it not been for
the "kind" and watchful salesclerk who still checks on what he punches, then I would have
been paying for a garlic for the price of crabs !!!!!

Episode 7, Makro, Cubao, 2009

Dear Friends,

I got this email entitled "Too Much Cheating at SM".

I have encountered exactly the same problem several times at Makro
(Cubao).  On two occasions, I happened to watch the monitor on which one
can see the items electronically entered by the cashier.  Since I had been
enticed to buy certain items (specifically, potatoes, lemons and french
fries) due to the low prices on their labels, I had sort of memorized the
said prices.  I was shocked that the amounts electronically registered were
not simply higher but actually double the price that was on their labels.

I explicitly manifested my displeasure and demanded to speak to the
manager, but predictably, when such things happen, they say the manager is
out, and so I was able to talk only to the supervisor each time.  The
excuse?  They said that the prices had been increased but unfortunately
their staff had not yet adjusted the labels.  Tell that to the marines!
The most I could do for was to return the anomalously marked items.

Think about how many thousands of consumers are fooled in this manner!

Feel free to circulate this warning about MAKRO and SM (which, by the way,
belong to the SM Group of Companies).

 Episode 8, SM Hypermart

Subject: Too Much Cheating At SM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I want to warn you about TOO MUCH CHEATING at SM - and that includes their supermarkets and
their department store.

Almost every time I purchase something at SM supermarkets, the price the cashier rings up
for one or more of the items I purchase does not match the tag price on the shelf.  This
happens CONSTANTLY. Yesterday, for example, I purchased a liwanag candle at SM Hypermart in
Tiendesitas which was tagged at P29.95, and just noticed this morning that I was actually
charged P91.75.  A few days ago the same thing happened with two different items.

Sometime ago, I purchased a blender from SM Department Store at the basement of Megamall for
around P1100.00, and then walked to the department where they sell TVs, etc., and saw the
exact same blender for just over P800..  I complained and asked that they give me a refund
for the difference since it was just a matter of minutes (yes, just minutes), and I was
refused with the reason that they are two different departments and run by different
management.

My maid just told me that this happens to her also constantly.  When she recently bought
achuete that was tagged at P10.00, she noticed when she got home that she got charged P15.50
instead.  And then a can of Canola oil tagged at P129.00 got rung up at P131.00

I have complained many times to customer service, and all they tell me is "sorry sir", but
do absolutely nothing to return the difference, and instead give fucking excuses.

This is nothing but BLATANT CHEATING.

So next time you shop at SM, PLEASE BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR MORE CHEATING.

Manny Manapat
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Conclusion
What conclusions can we draw from the above?

Clearly, there appears to be a pattern of anomalies occurring at different
SM stores.  I do not know if the supposed daily memos of price changes are
intended to confuse both SM employees and customers alike, but the end
result is that thousands of SM customers are duped daily and that SM is the
one reaping huge profits from such anomalies.

WARNING:  From now on, closely monitor the prices registered on the cash
register as they are punched in by the cashier, and check your grocery
receipts vis-à-vis your individual purchases.  More importantly, speak up
against these evil practices!

PLEASE PASS ON THIS MESSAGE.

I finished reading this article from National Geographic, Bird in the Sky. This is a great innovation. I wonder how much this will cost in Philippine Peso. When I was a kid, I always dream of flying cars to avoid traffic. Guess it’s coming to reality now. Good job!

HP's darkest time

Well, I guess everybody knows this issue we had for HP. It's good to hear that the sexual harassment has been rule out. Details are seen on this site. But hey, why using company's assets? Worst, he takes a take home pay. It's big all right. Check the web site I have reference above.

Date with Ampee, August 6, 2010

Finally 2 years, Ampee and I are finally reunited. My best friend in Sykes, Ampee Dionisio. So what keeps Ampee busy? S/he is not with Datacom and now with the escalations. Congrats Ampee! So we decided to meet up and grab something to eat. We first dine in at Ado's Panciteria. Food was great. He invited 2 of her friends. It's a small world; Maya has a friend name, Zai, who happens to be Mia's friend from Sykes IT.

Our order. Ampee had a big appetite.

Php416, not bad for 4 people. Our tummy was full.

Next stop: BarResto, Fil-Oil, Shaw Boulevard. Gian also came to party with us. We had lots of things to catch up. And of course, Ampee needed to end the night. His mom was calling. Thank you Ampee and Gian, there should be a next time.

Cito Beltran: Changing Directions

Hey Guys, if you are not doing anything on August 21, 2010. Please attend this seminar, Cito Beltran: Changing Directions. I post a comment there; hope I am one of the lucky people to be picked. :-)

Here are my comments why I want to attend this seminar:

I work in one of the best IT company and doing IT support on our clients. At this time, I need a change of hat. I want to explore more on achieving my goals and I know that this seminar by Cito Beltran will provide me insights on how things get done with my personal and corporate life. Double hating---how to balance my personal and corporate life.

I spent most of the time at work. Been to customer service and a little of technical support on my previous company for 7 years. Now with this one, for 2 years, is doing the same level of support but at least upgraded in supporting Level 2 operations and handling new initiatives for the company. Now what question comes in my mind is how am I doing now? I need something that will move and inspire me to grow and yes to strategize what I will do 5 years from now.

If I am given a chance to be on this seminar, I will be focus and free my mind and help me internalize our real purpose in life, achieving personal and organizational success through strategic thinking.

Thanks Cito, thank you Randell.

Cheers!

Mount Sea Resort, Cavite

We had our recent team building at Cavite. The place was good. The personnel there were hospitable and food was delicious. Here are some of the photos. Complete picture are on my Facebook. Thanks Faith for taking some photos of the resort.

As always Rocky dominated the Video-OK. James voice was a little husky and proved that he can compete with Rocky. It’s a good thing we have a time off from work. Too bad some of my colleagues did not come. Sayang ang mga pagkain.

The following day, I had daing for breakfast. It’s luscious plus their brewed coffee is tasty hot so I ordered another one.

On our way home, rain poured and causes heavy traffic. James and I decided to make a stopover at MRT-Magallanes station; we went to the nearby mall. Dine there and have our coffee break at Bean Hopper’s Coffee.

Max's Restaurant Taytay

I was on my way home 3 hours ago; suddenly a massive rain poured my hometown, ValleyGolf, Cainta Rizal. The rain kept pounding and yes, flood came in. As a result, I went to Max's to finished some reports and yes check some updates in the office. Max's wifi is really good! I am currently watching TV Patrol at  this site. The ABS CBN site is currently not working. It states that I am not in the Philippines.

My order, Max's Specialty... Tocino! :-)
Time: 7:22pm - Check the window, its still traffic. Guess I'll be here for a few minutes. I'll wait for TV Patrol to finish.

I want some coffee again.... Waiter...

On Running Marathon

I received a sad email regarding a colleague of ours who died in a marathon last July 4. Remus Fuentes died of multiple organ failures as result of heatstroke two days after he ran the 21K in the recent 34th Milo Marathon last Sunday, July 4, 2010. Based on the story that I have read, Remus was a healthy man and often joined marathon. The question is what happened? Are there lapses from the organizer? Rudy Fuentes, Remus father detailed his story on this site.

Happy

Last Saturday was a blissful day for me. Mia and I are almost done with our project. Everything is put into place. With God staying with us, things will go smoothly.

Kimono Ken @SM the Block, July 4, 2010

Just sharing this restaurant that Mia and I dine in couple of weeks ago, food was great. Mia was craving for a Japanese food. We end up at Kimono Ken. On the previous day, July 3, Saturday, we dine at Tempura at Trinoma. That’s two Japanese foods in a row! Well, I love Japanese foods. Dad thought us to eat it while we were young.

Here are the foods that we ordered. Sarap!

Hazel McCallion

I went to Bread of Life church last Sunday, Paster Beebo talked about Hazel McCallion. For those of you who does not know Hazel, she is the mayor of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; born February 14, 1921. She has been serving Mississauga for 31 years. Now at aged 89, she was easily re-elected again for her 11 consecutive terms. And take note, she doesn’t even need to campaign. What’s her secret? Don’t make promises that you can’t keep. People love her so much. And yes, this Mayor rocks! She’s into ice hockey and fishing.

I hope, our leaders would be like this. Free from corruption and of course dedication from their work. Good luck President Noynoy Aquino. Let’s keep this country moving. And remember, you have promised us no corruption. Let’s start a new leaf.

Traffic!

Unbelievable, yesterday was my worst trip going home! I extend in the office for an hour for our operations. My log off time was 4pm. I got out of the office at around 5:20pm. There was rain all right. And of course I expect the worst, when it rained, there is traffic. I record the time on my whole trip and divided it into 4 sections.

1.    Makati to Kalaayan Road – 48.58.5

2.    C5 to Ortigas Extension – 15.57.3 (Not bad! I thought I’ll be going home smoothly. Traffic was only at the C5 U turn slot.)

3.    Ortigas Extension to VolleyGolf – 2.20.53.6 (Yeah, I got this right. While we were on the One Oasis condo, still at Ortigas Extension, an FX driver approached us and mentioned that Junction was heavily flooded from waste to down. I thought on myself, yikes! How am I going home then? So the driver of the FX made a U-Turn and said to us we’ll take another route. He’s confident that the flood was only in Junction. He promised that he’ll take us to VolleyGolf. Good thing that most of us is from VolleyGolf.  So there’s goes our adventure. We encountered some flooded areas but we were all good. Until we’ve reached my place. I’m glad VolleyGolf was not flooded that time, it was almost 10pm. I saw some tracks of flood though. But I was pleased with the smooth driving of manong driver.)

4.    Service Jeep to Home – 14.01.3 (Touchdown! But there was black out. Matthew, my kid brother told me earlier. It seems that only Palmera has no lights. Weird. The Meralco specialist was unable to search my Dad’s name since I was not able to provide the account number. Even when I provided our address. The last time I called, there no problem with it.)

Well, that’s it. I went to slumber for couple of hours and woke up at 4.40am to prepare.

Ace Water SPA

Earlier, we went to Ace Water SPA. For Php550, you'll get hydrotherapy massage for four hours plus three herbal hot pools. I personally love the hot herbal pool. The three pools temperature ranges from 36 to 40 Celsius. It's really hot! They named it Mint Pool--36 C, Jasmine Pool--38 C, Lavender Pool--40 C. They don't allow bringing cameras in the pool area. So we took pictures on the dining area. My official photographer, Matthew took pictures of the area.

And of course, after four hours of swimming, I'm hungry as a bear. I love seafood, I ordered Seafood Teriyaki. Sis ordered Chicken while mom preferred Salad. It has wasabi! Mom was not able to finish her salad. Mat asked for Calamari and hotdogs.

I am Little Bear, I Survived!

his video is excellent! The film was created by Jean-Jacques Annaud. This is probably one of the best video I’ve seen. Watch how the bear overcome his predator.

Date with Mia

At last we had our mall day (May 1). We had some appointments that day but we've managed to watch Iron Man 2 at Trinoma. I saw Mama Ai and her hubby. Tip; please watch the ending credits of Iron Man ;-)

After the movie, we decided to go home. Nanay's cook is much more delicious! But before that, Stick House caught our attention. It's gelato on a stick! Mia and I love gelatos, we take a bite. And wala! It's luscious. Another 100% guaranteed favorite. It will cost you around 60 to 100 bucks. It's still a great deal. Of course, you may opt to cornetto. ;-)

Happy Birthday Sis!

It was a May 3 early morning; was stuck in the office.  Cousin Daryl and I planned to meet that time. It was prompt get together thing. I called Ging, but she told me she’s with Mom. Mom had a dentist appointment that day.  We still decided to meet. The aircon on the office was really bad. I wondered why the management did not fix it, even it was a holiday, and there should be AIR! My colleague, Ronnie and I decided to work on the other side to get some aircon that we needed to fulfill our duties.

After work, I went to Trinoma to meet cousins, Daryl and Christian. Daryl decided that we dine at Charlie’s Grind and Grill. Food was awesome! Loving every chunk of beef of their burger; their buffalo wings was also perfect. Men, its sauce was sizzling hot! Bebe Mia, you should grab a taste of it!

After a piece of Charlie’s Grind and Grill, we bought cake for Ging worth _____.

The cake was heavy! Funny, we were in a hurry, I take the wrong cake! But, the service crew gets back to us and gave the right cake. So here it is, happy birthday Ging! Sorry I wasn’t able to celebrate it on May 1.
